Thurlow Nunn Standen Ltd

History

Thurlow Nunn Standen continues to prosper and remains very much a family concern. John's son, James, now has responsibility for the day-to-day management of the business as Managing Director and John's daughter, Sally Tew, is Personnel Director. James and Sally are the fifth generation of the Thurlow family to become involved in the business and Jeremy Nunn continues the Nunn family's involvement. Jeremy is a Director of TNS and has responsibility for the Specialist Installations Division (SID).

The future looks good for TNS. In January 2008 we relocated our Head Office and the Ely and Downham Market branch functions to a purpose built, brand new depot at Littleport just outside Ely. We are all very proud of this flagship depot; we have built a high-tec workshop accommodating 12 technician's bays and a superb retail showroom, and our employees and visitors enjoy the benefits of modern office accommodation. We believe this investment demonstrates the company's commitment to the future of agriculture.
We believe that being part of a traditional, family business gives our employees a sense of pride in the service we offer to our customers. We have a loyal and committed staff and feel immensely proud to have awarded in excess of 100, 25 year, long service awards.

In 1982 the Company purchased a small interest in a Vauxhall garage and this led to a major investment in the Vauxhall franchise now trading as Thurlow Nunn from eight Vauxhall garages in East Anglia located at Dereham, Fakenham, Holt, King's Lynn, Wisbech, Great Yarmouth, Diss and Beccles and a Specialist Body Repair Centre also in Great Yarmouth. In addition to Vauxhall, Thurlow Nunn also operates a Toyota franchise at St Ives in Cambridgeshire and the Saab franchise at Norwich and King's Lynn.
Balsham (Buildings) Ltd is also part of the Thurlow Nunn Group of Companies. They specialise in the design, fabrication & erection of steel framed buildings for both the agricultural & industrial markets. They have over 30 years experience in the market sector and continue to have a name associated to quality.

The Thurlow Nunn Group now employs c. 500 people, with an annual turnover in excess of £100 million, and operates from 14 sites throughout East Anglia in the supply of agricultural machinery and motor vehicles and the manufacture and erection of steel framed buildings.
